Digitalization for Climate Neutrality
ATP architects engineers and ATP sustain presented “Green Deal Digital” at the ÖGNI Sustainability Symposium 2024.
More than 1,000 guests accepted the invitation to the first ÖGNI Sustainability Symposium at the Hofburg in Vienna. As Silver Sponsors, ATP architects engineers and the sustainability specialists of ATP sustain not only placed their personal knowhow and expertise at the disposal of the event, but also oversaw the drawing up of practical solutions in the “Digitalization” working group that preceded the symposium.
The highpoint of ATP’s presence was the presentation of the “ATP Green Deal,” a pioneering, rigorous concept of measures in the area of digital integrated design. The aim is to accelerate the transformation of the construction and real estate sector as we head for a climate-neutral future.
In line with the motto “Sustainability: Turning Intentions into Impact,” the ÖGNI Sustainability Symposium 2024 saw itself as an important catalyst for the transformation of the construction and real estate sector. In addition to the subject of digitalization, working groups also addressed the circular economy and the future of our cities.
The construction and real estate sector is playing a decisive role in the reduction of CO2 emissions. At ATP, we see ourselves as being responsible for accelerating the move to climate neutrality with the help of modern design methods. However, the challenge of climate change also requires an adequate political framework. This is where the symposium can send an important signal.
Michael Haugeneder
ATP Green Deal – A guideline for sustainable buildings
With its ATP Green Deal, ATP developed a catalog of measures for climate neutrality, the circular economy, and saving resources, which goes far beyond the requirements of the EU Green Deal and can be used in any design project – including the additional definition of an ideal variant. “Integrated design with BIM enables us to consider the entire lifecycle of a building – from construction, via use, to refurbishment,” explains Haugeneder. “Our ATP Green Deal offers practical solutions on the way to the climate-neutral future of the construction and real estate sector.”
Digitalization as the key to sustainability
As leader of the “Digitalization” working group, Haugeneder summarized its latest findings for the interested audience during the symposium: “Digitalization is the key if we want to introduce sustainability to the real estate sector in a realistic and scalable way,” he emphasized. “Thanks to EU Taxonomy and the Climate Protection Targets we have to precisely present the CO₂ footprint of buildings. The huge volumes of data mean that this can only be done using digital methods. This is why we argue for a CO2 certificate that shows both the ecological and economic balance.” Our knowhow from digital integrated design enables ATP to massively reduce risks for clients, because the transition from a linear to a circular economy is full of uncertainty. “We help our clients to deal with these challenges with innovative solutions and combine economic sustainability – and success – with ecological and social sustainability.”
Networking and collaboration as success factors
In addition to its specialist discussions, the symposium was also an excellent platform for networking with the sector’s leading players.
Networking and collaboration are essential if we are to master the complex challenges of the climate crisis. Only by working together will we be able to push ahead with sustainable and climate–friendly solutions.

One highlight of the evening was the appearance of the Oscar winner and environmental activist Cate Blanchett. She emphasized the importance of the built environment for the future and stressed the role of the real estate sector in confronting the climate crisis. Her presence underlined the global relevance of the subject and the importance of the symposium.
