Boehringer Ingelheim

Groundbreaking ceremony for sustainable office building

Vienna, 03.10.2024

The pharmaceuticals company is investing in a sustainable future: Between now and 2027, it is realizing a state-of-the-art office building designed by ATP architects engineers that will gather all administrative functions together under one roof and meet the highest sustainability standards. Our objective: LEED and klimaaktiv Gold certification.

The pharmaceuticals company Boehringer Ingelheim is continuing its response to steady growth with plans for a new office building. As the centerpiece of its “Regional Center Vienna,” this will have room for up to 990 employees. We got together in early October to celebrate the start of construction work.

This construction project is a key investment in our future and a clear commitment to our Vienna base

Gold certifications
The comprehensive sustainability concept ensures a long-term reduction in operating costs and emissions. A series of targeted measures are designed to achieve LEED Gold certification and a klimaaktive Gold declaration – two of the highest standards for sustainable building. A geothermal plant covers heating demand in winter, provides sufficient warm water, and guarantees a pleasant interior climate in summer. A total of 90 geothermal probes descend to a depth of 150 meters. PV panels are installed on the roofs and the facade. And we will also use “green” concrete, the production of which causes far fewer CO2 emissions than traditional concrete production methods.

The working environment of tomorrow
The seven stories are home to a wide range of office environments and a modern meeting landscape. The offices are precisely tailored to meet the needs of employees: From open creative meeting areas, quiet zones, and closed phone booths, to traditional meeting rooms, these offer a range of options for concentrated, communicative, or creative work. In addition to this, a green courtyard with a generous terrace offers space for rest and relaxation.
