Award for ŠKODA Auto

Austrian Green Planet Building Award 2024 for the Laurin & Klement Campus

Vienna, 15.04.2024

Škoda Auto’s new corporate headquarters in Mladá Boleslav, which were integrally designed by ATP, in cooperation with ATP sustain, convinced the award jury with their particularly energy-efficient building services concept.

Comprehensively sustainable, energy-efficient, and innovative: The Laurin & Klement Campus, the corporate headquarters of Škoda Auto in Mladá Boleslav, convinced the jury of the Austrian Green Planet Building Award 2024. ATP architects engineers was commissioned by Volkswagen Immobilien to plan the state-of-the-art building ensemble on the basis of a winning competition entry, in integrated cooperation with ATP sustain, its subsidiary for sustainable building. From day one, the focuses of the project were sustainability, energy efficiency, and the flexibility of the working areas. This also involved targeted measures in the areas of building services and architecture.

Well-thought-out concept for a climate-fit building
The building was designed with innovative building services that are integrally optimized to minimize energy requirements. In the areas of heating/cooling, ventilation, illumination, and solar protection, networked functionality is backed up by the use of the exhaust heat. The ventilation system works with highly-efficient heat recovery. With its optimal mix of opaque and glazed areas, the loadbearing facade is also an ideal heat and cold store, while the office towers are shaped to permit the uniform natural lighting of the workspaces. This offers building users optimal comfort inside the building without limiting energy efficiency. The regenerative energy supply combines with the rooftop photovoltaic plant to ensure the environmentally-friendly and sustainable operation of the entire campus.

Michael Haugeneder from ATP architects engineers at a meeting.

We are delighted by this important award. The process of integrated design with ATP enabled us to plan a state-of-the-art building complex, whose sophisticated building services, together with their integration and monitoring, are not only projected to be extremely energy efficient and climate friendly, but also offer high potential for operational optimization.
