Kostrena, 18.02.25
Zagreb Groundbreaking ceremony Health sector

A ceremonial launch for one of the municipality’s most significant projects: The new facility on Kvarner Bay is set to become a flagship project for high-quality care and integrated support services. The architectural concept was developed by ATP architects engineers.

The foundation stone has been laid: A new senior residence is being built in Kostrena. The facility will provide needs-based long-term care for the elderly, aiming to enhance the residents’ quality of life.

At the groundbreaking ceremony, Dario Travaš, ATP Partner and Managing Director of ATP Zagreb, presented the design concept. It combines state-of-the-art facilities with barrier-free spaces tailored to the needs of elderly residents. This project represents a fourth-generation senior living facility, based on the principles of residential and family communities. The ATP design team drew inspiration directly from Kostrena itself.

Dario Tracas, CEO of ATP Zagreb.

The architectural concept of the building emerged from the spirit of this place. We designed three structures that face the sea, ensuring an ideal orientation toward the sun and the water. This allows every resident to enjoy a beautiful view.

The multistory building, with a gross built volume of 8,607.59 m², is being constructed on a 13,112 m² site. It will accommodate 144 residents who are in need of care, 20 of whom will live in units specially designed for individuals with Alzheimer’s. The facility will also offer five outpatient services: home support, part- and full-day care, and temporary care, as well as counseling and assistance for around 300 users. In addition, the center will house a grocery store, a café, and a hair salon.

The new building is being constructed using environmentally friendly and energy-efficient technologies. Completion is scheduled for June 2026.
