Prizewinning Glamping
ICONIC AWARD 2023 for Falkensteiner Premium Camping Zadar
ATP architects engineers has received another ICONIC AWARD. This year, the prestigious prize has been awarded to the Premium Camping facility in Zadar in Croatia. The project is an architectural glamping statement that combines the camping philosophy of “living in the open air” with all the refinement of a five-star resort.
The prizewinning Premium Camping facility, which was designed by ATP is a perfect example of the potential that can be found in an outdated existing structure. ATP architects engineers Zagreb was commissioned by the tourism company Falkensteiner to transform the existing campsite into a glamping destination.
In design terms, we principally attached great importance to underlining the philosophy of camping, of living in the open air, through high-quality architecture.

The complex refurbishment project included the building of a new reception, restaurants, sanitary areas, and a range of other facilities that have transformed the image of the camp. With 86 mobile homes, seven glamping tents for upmarket camping, 276 classic pitches, and a richly-varied pool landscape, the result can be seen and, more importantly, experienced.
Sculptural design
The sculptural design, with its articulated and deeply cantilevered roofs, enables the architecture to enter into dialog with nature. The sculptural forms of the buildings, which can be seen from afar, establish orientation points in the constantly changing camp. Interior and exterior spaces flow harmoniously together, creating unique places that absorb the idyllic surroundings without harming them in any way. Roof elements and glazed facades facilitate maximum levels of daylight. The stylishly geometrical design also enhances the restaurant and wellness complex with its pool landscape – the centerpiece of the camp.
The award ceremony of the ICONIC AWARDS 2023 takes place in October as part of Expo Real in Munich.
