Healing Environment Concept

Construction start for the extension to the Evangelisches Diakoniekrankenhaus

Freiburg-Landwasser, 06.07.2023

Start of work on the Evangelisches Diakoniekrankenhaus: Wing 4 will offer much-needed extra capacity. The objective of our “Healing Environment Approach” is to create surroundings that support the healing process for patients by enhancing both their physical and psychological wellbeing.

The Evangelisches Diakoniekrankenhaus has marked its 125th anniversary by starting the largest building project in its history. The state-of-the-art “Flügel 4” extension, which will create much-needed extra capacity and guarantee high-quality treatment to patients well into the future, is scheduled for completion by the end of 2025. As a subcontractor of the Obermeyer Group, ATP Karlsruhe has been commissioned to deliver execution design, tender/tender award, and site supervision services.

The objective of our ‘Healing Environment Approach’ is to create an environment that focuses on people. The architecture supports the healing process of the patients and strengthens their physical and psychological comfort.

The four levels of the extension contain a central emergency station, a cafeteria as a new meeting point for young and old, a delivery room, a modern ward, and a generous events space with an attractive roof terrace. Well-structured floor plans guarantee optimal processes, while the interior design creates a positive atmosphere based on security and trust.
