Wien, 06.09.2023

The large-scale expansion, integrally designed by ATP architects engineers, is already in process. Now, the official groundbreaking ceremony took place, joined by politicians and representatives of Octapharma and ATP.

Construction work has started on the expansion to Octapharma’s production facility in Vienna-Favoriten that is being integrally designed by ATP architects engineers. Politicians and representatives of Octapharma were joined by Horst Reiner, Managing Director of ATP Vienna, and his team at the groundbreaking ceremony.

Octapharma, a global healthcare company that is based in Lachen in Switzerland, is carrying out the large-scale expansion program in order to improve its ability to supply patients throughout the world with vital plasma products. In doing so, it is also offering a powerful boost to Austria as a pharmaceuticals location – as well as protecting the environment. Extensive resource-friendly and CO₂-reducing measures underline the high sustainability standard of the project. These measures include an increase in the recycling rate and a focus on condensate recovery as a means of reducing water. The company’s goal is that all refrigeration units will be environmentally friendly by 2030.

One key milestone in the expansion program is the realization of the new “Haberkornhalle.” The expansion of this hall from 2,800 to 6,300 m² will enable production levels on the site to increase by 50 per cent. In addition to a new logistics area, extra space is also being created for the key visual inspection and packaging processes: The expansion of this area in the coming years and the updating of the building services in line with the latest technical standards will create space for innovation and further optimization.
