Next Generation Data Center
A1/IBM Data center
The computer center for A1/IBM, which ATP architects engineers designed integrally with BIM, has joined the IT “Champions League”: The state-of-the-art data center of the Austrian telecommunications provider is certified in line with all relevant standards for availability, security, and efficiency.
The highly flexible building for the communication and IT infrastructure of tomorrow was designed in quality, time & budget. The beneficiaries of this are not only the client but also the innumerable Vienna companies who outsource their IT infrastructure as a way of meeting the ever more sophisticated requirements for the security and availability of IT systems.
Integrated design with BIM ensures that ATP can enjoy the problem-free exchange and reconciliation of data during all phases of a project. In addition to the many technical system considerations countless environmental ideas are also incorporated in the planning of the computer center. The highest level of environmental certification and the exclusive use of green electricity make it one of Europe’s most modern data centers and the first computer center in Austria with “Uptime Certification” (Tier III Certification Detailed Design, TCDD).
The monolithic building volume stands on an L-shaped corner site and has a compact and restrained architectural language. It is organized into a technical level and an IT area, each of which has its own security zone. The use of high-quality equipment ensures that all system spaces can be expanded without interrupting operations or affecting the existing plant in any way. Like a Faraday Cage, the building is protected from unwanted electrical or electromagnetic fields.
