The ATP Office of the Future

An optimal working environment for integrated design

Newly vacated spaces in ATP’s headquarters were used for the development of the prototype of an “exemplary office for integrated design.” The ambitiously realized workspace for interface-free cooperation between architects and engineers was a finalist in the “Office of the Year” Awards in 2017.

As a pioneer of integrated design in Europe, we are constantly developing our interdisciplinary way of working and subjecting it to quality certification. The revitalization of a newly vacated floor in ATP-Haus in Innsbruck offered us the opportunity to develop ideal spaces for ourselves and to realize this bespoke office concept in situ. In future, this solution could be applicable to all office areas at ATP’s individual locations.

Our objective of guaranteeing our team an inspiring and healthy working environment went hand-in-hand with the requirement to perfectly support our modern, interactive, and sustainable working culture and to improve our design processes even further.

Model office for integrated cooperation
We worked with our organizational and strategic consultants M.O.O.CON on the analysis of our spatial needs – for both interdisciplinary cooperation and administrative and leisure activities. We then carried out a requirement planning exercise, the results of which flowed into an ideal “spatial program for integrated design.”

Martin Lukasser, Head Business Development at ATP Innsbruck and associated partner at ATP architects engineers.

Just as we design every building from the core process outwards, we also designed this office integrally. It was particularly important to us to fully involve our employees, with all their various needs, in the design process.

In the spirit of Activity Based Working, we combined open office structures with areas for teamwork and dynamic exchange within the group, as well as meeting rooms and quieter spaces. The clear organization of the workspaces and the lack of hierarchy encourage exchange between the leaders and members of our teams as well as cooperation between our various specialist disciplines.

Alongside the optimization of the space requirements per employee, we primarily focused on the factors of health, well-being, and comfort. A combination of light-colored furniture with warm, dark timber elements, acoustic ceilings, low-emission building materials, and state-of-the-art building services generate an agreeable working environment.

Healthy air in a modern workspace
The prototype ATP office for integrated design occupies 636 m². Equipped with the latest office technology, it offers 42 employees a flexible spatial structure with specialist areas such as a BIM room, which is the heart of the new ATP working environment. Here, integrated design is optimally supported by the digital building model.

The high ecological standards of the equipment, the air, and the lighting support the productive and healthy working environment. The excellent internal climate is underpinned by a system that cleans and humidifies the air before it circulates through the office. Planted walls enhance this excellent climatic quality and ensure a sophisticated workplace ambience.

The lighting concept by ATP’s specialists in cooperation with the lighting planners from Bartenbach lighting design, which uses sensor-controlled LED and swarm technology, is particularly progressive. The workspaces include presence and absence sensors and a daylight measuring head that operates in combination with a daylight control system.
