BREEAM Excellent
MAHÜ77 Vienna
ATP Vienna, in cooperation with ATP sustain, has revitalized one of the best-known shopping centers in downtown Vienna – the former Generali Center – and, in doing so, has established new standards in the area of sustainable, lifecycle-oriented building.
The center, which is now known as MAHÜ77, is not only the first shopping center in Austria but also the first retail refurbishment project in the entire German-speaking region to have been awarded BREEAM “excellent” sustainability certification. The projected measures mean that a reduction in CO2 emissions of 88.14 % is possible. In addition to this, the final energy demand undercuts the given BREEAM benchmark by 36.67 %.
ATP also innovated in architectural terms. In line with the requirements of the client Redevco the many small shops were replaced by three large shops, each of which covers an entire floor and is accessed via a separate street entrance. The sales levels for EUROSPAR, CCC and TK MAXX open to the outside via high, two-story glass façades and communicate directly with the largest shopping street in the center of Vienna. Thus, the busy Mariahilferstraße is itself transformed into a mall.
