A vibrant quarter in the heart of the city

Quartier Ostallee, Trier

As part of a realisation competition, we developed a holistic urban planning concept that creates sustainable working and living spaces. The harmonious combination of buildings and open spaces results in sustainable and flexible solutions that redefine urban space.

A sustainable vision for a diverse quarter

The revitalization of the "Ostallee Trier" area aimed to create a sustainable urban space that meets the growing demands of modern working, living, and lifestyle needs. Within the framework of the realisation competition held for this purpose, we developed a concept that turns the heterogeneous area with its different building typologies and undefined outdoor spaces into a liveable, mixed and future-oriented neighbourhood.

A concept that creates connections

The aim of our urban development concept was to restructure the previously heterogeneous area with clear, compact buildings and a differentiated outdoor space design. In doing so, the quarter is structured in such a way that living, working, commerce and mobility are in harmony with each other. A simple and well-thought-out pedestrian route facilitates orientation and allows for easy movement through the area. The concept creates a connection between the various functions and contributes to designing a harmonious and livable quarter.

Open spaces for orientation and encounters
The coherent structure of the open spaces with their range of potential uses permits clear orientation. The heart of the project is home to a spacious urban square that forms the centerpiece of the quarter and acts as a meeting place. The trees are retained and a diverse range of planting maximizes the proportion of green space in the development.

Flexible architecture for a modern headquarters
The new headquarters for the Stadtwerke and the Volksbank consists of three building volumes that are staggered in terms of size and height and whose different depths offer a wide range of spatial qualities: from generous and open, via compact and communicative, to small-scale and cozy. This structure facilitates flexible, multifunctional working environments. The staggering of the volumes creates upper level terraces that can be used as external spaces.
