Ceremonial inauguration of the “smart” research and administration center
The integrally designed “Smart Building” by the technology company has celebrated its opening. By making full use of ABB’s own digital solutions and systems, ATP has established the innovative research and administration center as a sustainable architectural flagship project.
The new ABB Campus, which was integrally designed by ATP architects engineers, has celebrated its opening. This unique innovation center means that the Mannheim base of the globally active Swiss technology company now has a facility dedicated to cutting-edge development and interdisciplinary cooperation.
“Smart” & sustainable
Conceived as a smart building, the research and development center is an efficient and sustainable architectural flagship project. In cooperation with ABB, ATP made full use of the portfolio of the technology company in order to implement digital solutions and building automation or energy distribution systems. In combination with further extensive energy-saving measures, this means that the building meets sustainability standards in the areas of energy efficiency and climate and resource protection.
For us as an integrated design office with a focus on sustainability it was a great pleasure to develop this architecturally outstanding, efficient, and sustainable smart building in close cooperation with our clients.

New-work environment
As an innovation center for industrial digitalization and artificial intelligence, the new ABB Campus brings together a range of units and functions. ATP developed a spatial concept for the facility’s 1,200+ employees that is rooted in Activity Based Working as a means of creating an optimal networking environment. The result is a diverse office landscape that encourages agile, creative, and needs-oriented working and learning.
