Modern World of Work
Opening ceremony of the new administration building of the KVNO
The dynamic architecture of the particularly resource-friendly and energy-efficient new building for the Kassenärztliche Vereinigung Nordrhein (KVNO) enables it to act as a catalyst within the urban fabric. The opening ceremony took place in mid-August.
The new building for the Kassenärztliche Vereinigung Nordrhein (KVNO) at “Butzweilerhof” marks the next step in the organization’s forward-looking development process. The state-of-the-art administration building is both a service and an advice center for the 22,500 registered doctors and psychotherapists who are members of the KV Nordrhein. The particularly resource-friendly and energy-efficient solution means that the building far exceeds the requirements of the Building Energy Law (GEG). In order to meet the primary energy demands of the complex, the project focused on the use of regenerative energies.
After a construction phase lasting two-and-a-half years, ATP architects engineers joined the clients and countless guests to celebrate the opening.
I’m delighted that we’ve been able to give the KVNO a striking new appearance in the shape of its new administration building. The building is well-thought-out in urban planning terms and its open, dynamic volumes create extraordinary internal spaces that give a sense of identity to both employees and visitors.

The bespoke “KVNO World of Work” contains not just offices and conference areas but also a childcare center, a company restaurant, and a sports area for employees. The interaction of working spaces, generous views of the green surroundings, and targeted positioning of design elements create a richly varied office landscape. The heart of the powerful circular building is home to a central green courtyard, around which all the key functions are radially organized. The façade concept emphasizes this dynamism while generating visual depth.
I would like to thank everyone for their extraordinary efforts and wealth of ideas, all of which made the realization of this building possible. The result of this joint show of strength can truly be seen: For us at KV Nordrhein, this building is a vital statement for the future. This administration building will highlight our mission of being a modern, innovative, and digital service provider. Here, all our member services are gathered together under one roof – from Doctors’ Registers to Registered Medications.
